Dear Bryan ISD Parents and Families,
We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students tomorrow! The last week has been filled with anticipation and excitement across our community and we cannot wait to launch another year of learning in Bryan ISD. The first day of school is always a special day for our staff and students, and you can be assured that we are ready to greet all of our students and show them the love and compassion that makes our district unique. If you have not yet had an opportunity, please take a moment to review my August 4 parent letter for the important information and updates, including safety and security information and information about school meals and lunch routes.
Bryan ISD Accountability News
Bryan ISD has exciting news to announce regarding our Accountability Rating with the Texas Education Agency. It’s official!! The Texas Education Agency has released the 2022 Accountability Ratings, and Bryan ISD has earned an 86, B Rating! This is the highest rating yet for the district! Additionally, the district was awarded an “A” or 92 for College, Career and Military Readiness and a 91% graduation rate!
Supporting students’ academic and post-secondary success is a team effort and we want to thank teachers, students, staff, parents, and the community for all of their hard work and partnerships, especially in the last few years during our trying times of the pandemic.
Introducing the Bryan ISD Build!
Bryan ISD is a special district with a big heart, and we are looking forward to an exciting year of new possibilities, including a first-of-its-kind district partnership with the Bryan/College Station Habitat for Humanity organization! As a part of this partnership, Bryan ISD will come together as a school community to build a house for a local family. Bryan ISD is committed to our students’ academic and post-secondary success, and providing experiences and opportunities that help them understand the importance of community involvement and servant leadership. We are motivated to bring our “Essential 8” character development program to life through this unique service project.
Opportunities to Donate and Participate
As we launch this partnership, Bryan ISD students, staff members and community members will help raise money with B/CS Habitat for Humanity. Each Bryan ISD campus will host fundraising activities through the fall, so we ask that you be on the lookout for special displays and information at district events like Open House, football games, Fine Arts events, etc. A special QR code will be available to support onsite donations, and donations can now be accepted directly through the Bryan ISD Build website at bryanisd.org/build. Title and project sponsorships for this project are also available, so if your business or organization is interested, please contact Carl Orozco at [email protected] or b
There will also be opportunities for our students, staff and families to volunteer and contribute to home construction, although due to safety precautions, on-site volunteer opportunities will be subject to age restrictions. Still, we have worked closely with Habitat for Humanity to identify ways that all students can contribute. Example activities by age include:
- Decorating 2’x4’ studs that are used in building (students 13 and under)
- Volunteer at B/CS Habitat ReStore (students 14 and up)
- Home site painting and landscaping (students 14 and up with adult)
- Home site caulking and flooring (students 16 and up with adulty; no power tools)
- Home site full volunteer (students 18 and up)
We invite our parents and community members to follow our progress by checking out the Bryan ISD Build website, and be on the lookout for more information coming directly from your child’s campus. You can also read more about the B/CS Habitat for Humanity mission and volunteer options on their website.
Supporting students’ academic and post-secondary success goes beyond the walls of our classrooms, so we are looking forward to this unique service project and the ability to bring our “Essential 8” character-development program to life.
We hope you will consider joining us in any way you can, whether that be making a monetary donation, participating as a volunteer, or sharing awareness and encouragement. We are looking forward to an exciting year changing lives and serving others!

Additional information about Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is an international organization dedicated to strengthening families and their communities by providing safe, decent and affordable housing. Habitat homes are not free. Families that apply must demonstrate need, have employment and qualify for a home loan, and agree to partner and work with Habitat. The B/CS Habitat for Humanity affiliate is a robust community partner with a strong track record of supporting home ownership across five subdivisions in Bryan/College Station. The family selected for the Bryan ISD Build home will be residents of Bryan, Texas.
B/CS Habitat for Humanity will manage the application and selection process to identify the family that will help build and receive the Bryan ISD Build home. Habitat also manages all construction-related activities. Completion of the project build will be subject to supply availability throughout the building phase, and this may impact the completion date.
